Techology-now and then (book)

TOPIC: Some people fear that technology is gradually taking over control of our lives, while others think that it has led to many positive developments in all aspects of their lives.

Discuss these views and give your own opinion.

The technolgy is changing every aspect of our lives: health, education, beauty... and these changes are being really, really fast. We can´t even realize about them.

But there are people who don´t accept these changes; people who are afraid about how technology is growing and taking the control of their lives. In fact, there are some technological developments that we need for living and we really dont need them. For example: the need to have internet in the mobile phone or being connected in the social networks 24/7, is a need created by the human been (mostly companies which have created these items),  because we can live without any of these "needs", right?
Moreover, there are jobs which you cannot take if you dont have any kind of knowledge about computers, even if your are the best lawyer or the best doctor. Therefore, according to the mainstream, you cannot have any friends if you haven´t an account in a social network like facebook or twitter.
Bad thing, because, in fact, in order to have online friends, we have to lose some time in front of the computer and it means that, at the end, we will lose our real friends.

However, other people are more happy about the technology and how it changes the world like we use to know. Their reasons are that the technology has increased the quality of our lives: for example, in terms of health, the cancer, an illness, was very difficult to get over, but, in the last few years, the situation has changed a lot and ,now, to have cancer isnt a synonym of passing away.

In my opinion, the technology has been always in our lives: the wheels, the telescope, the car...  and all of them are items which have been (and are) very useful. But it´s true that the technology is taking too much over our lives, making us a consumer society and not a better society.

And what about you? What is your opinion?
